There are many ways to cope and distract, such as talking to someone, going out for a walk, listening to loud music or watching a film/comfort series to name a few, doing what makes you happy and gives you peace. 

Other methods of distractions are to ground yourself with the 54321 method which is describe 5 things you can see, describe 4 things you can touch and or feel, describe 3 things you can hear, describe 2 things you can smell and describe 1 taste, the 54321 method is there to bring you back to reality and help you ground yourself with the present. 

Going through or making a self soothe box can often help and make you feel accomplished too. Do things that make you feel calm, take your mind off of whatever is bothering you and make you feel accomplished and safe. You can ask a loved one or a professional to record you a grounding recording, something you can relax and just let your mind listen to.

 A few other distractions are to cuddle pets, journaling, going for a walk or to take a shower.  These are just some distractions but do what works for you.
